Saint Xavier's Merwick Academy moves to United Methodist Church of Mount Greenwood

Tutoring programs taking registration Jan. 17-28

CHICAGO (Dec. 28, 2004) – To better serve students and the community, the Merwick Academy has relocated from the Warde Academic Center to United Methodist Church of Mt. Greenwood, 11000 S. St. Louis Ave. This move joins that of SXU Child Care, which relocated to the church in mid-August.

The new facility is approximately one mile from the Chicago campus and offers an increase in space, all-new classrooms with computers, easy pick-up and drop-off access on a quiet residential street, and central air conditioning.

“The move will be beneficial for our students and staff with the improved location and updated facilities,” says Kathryn Koloze, Merwick Academy’s program manager.

Merwick Academy will continue to provide educational tutorial programs for elementary and secondary students of public, parochial and private schools from the Southwest Side of Chicago and its suburbs. Students are tutored in groups of six or smaller in a multitude of subjects from reading to trigonometry. Many tutors are currently teaching in public and private schools or are current students from SXU’s School of Education.

Registration for the winter session is 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 17 through Jan. 28. There is no registration on Saturdays. The fee is $175 per subject, of that, a $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. For more information about the Merwick Academy, call 773-298-3180.
