Kathy McElligott honored with 2004 Staff Excellence Award

McElligott recognized at Founders' Day celebration

CHICAGO (Dec. 3, 2004) – Kathy McElligott today was honored with Saint Xavier’s Staff Excellence Award. McElligott has been with Saint Xavier for nearly twenty years and currently serves as executive secretary for the Office of Academic Affairs. Each year, the Staff Excellence Award is presented to an outstanding member of the university’s staff.

According to her nominator, McElligott exhibits the integrity and responsibility necessary to perform the many duties inherent to her position. “Kathy is a professional,” wrote her nominator. “She is respectful of all with whom she does business. She demonstrates a genuine caring for all who approach her for information, assistance, answers and guidance.”

Oftentimes involved with many personal and privileged aspects of faculty members’ lives, Ms. McElligott displays an extraordinary sense of discretion, assistance and care, her nominator wrote. “…She has always been, and continues to be, a trustworthy woman of integrity: approachable, inquisitive, able to converse with faculty on a variety of issues.”

McElligott has served as executive secretary to Maureen Scott, George Matthews, Christopher Chalokwu and other interim Deans of Faculty and Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs.
