Library Transformation Phase Three

Completed fall 2011.

The third phase of the project provided a much needed facelift to the Library's reading room and circulation area, the first major renovation to these spaces in almost 50 years!

SXU recently received partial funding of a $5 million grant for library improvements from the Illinois Board of Higher Education and a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to fund library technology. These grants supported phase three renovations.

This phase of the renovation created a beautifully remodeled reading room with new furniture, lighting, millwork, improved wireless, windows to the group study rooms, new computers and a raised, ADA-compatible floor with additional power outlets. The lobby received a new help desk, lighting and millwork. The stacks have improved access to the group study rooms, new touch screen scanners, copiers and printers, and enhanced lighting in the compact shelving area.
