Did You Know?
- Women have less water in their bodies than men do, which means that there is less water in a woman’s body to help break down the consumed alcohol.
- Your body uses approximately two ounces of water for every one ounce of alcohol that will in turn dehydrate you faster.
- The standard safe level of drinking is two drinks for men and one drink for women and older people. One drink is equal to 12 ounces of beer or wine cooler, one 5-ounce glass of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80 proof liquor.
- With the help of counseling and the right motivation, a person who is alcohol dependent can quit drinking.
- There is a gene that can partially explain alcoholism within families, but a big part of inherited alcoholism is your situation (stress, availability and friends).
