What is FOCUS?
The first step to becoming a Saint Xavier University student is participating in a FOCUS (First-Year Orientation) session this coming summer. FOCUS is designed specifically to make your transition to college life as smooth as possible. One of the philosophical foundations of this program is Success with Purpose, Saint Xavier's distinctive approach to fostering student achievement in all areas of life. Your FOCUS experience will start you on your road to success at Saint Xavier.
So what is FOCUS? It's a fun overnight orientation to Saint Xavier University during which new students receive their fall class schedules and learn about student life. The one hundred and twenty-five incoming first-year students that participate in each of the FOCUS sessions will stay overnight in one of SXU's residence halls, meet lots of other people, and have a great experience. What's more, participants will be introduced to campus resources and support services -- people and areas that will ensure their successful transition to Saint Xavier University.
FOCUS isn't just for students; it involves parents and guardians as well. They are invited to campus for their own special parent orientation program. Everyone will be greeted by University leaders, enjoy a campus cookout, participate in informational presentations and attend a department fair.
Bottom-line: this is one action-packed orientation program! We're always mindful that SXU students have a busy summer schedule, so we keep it relevant, informative, fast-paced and fun.
