About the Counselor
What was your major in college and why did you choose it? How has it helped you do your job at SXU?
I majored in actuarial science in college. I was drawn to the major by my love for math and critical thinking. My degree has come in handy as an admission counselor because there is a lot of data entry and analysis that comes into the job that people do not always realize. I am able to think more critically and analyze information provided to me thanks to my strong math background!
Why do you like your job?
I love getting to talk to prospective students and share with them all of the opportunities available to them at SXU! The decision to pursue a college degree and finding your home for the next for years is a big one! So getting to meet with students and help them along with this decision and experience is very rewarding!
What is your favorite season in Chicago?
My favorite season in the city is definitely winter! I love all of the hustle and bustle that the holiday season brings to the city. I enjoy visiting Christkindlemarket, the tree in Macy's and ice skating at the ice ribbon in Maggie Daley Park and grabbing some delicious hot chocolate at Magnolia Bakery when I'm trying to warm up from the cold Chicago winter!
What do you do for fun?
My favorite (and expensive) hobby is to see musicals! I enjoy visiting New York as often as I can to see the latest shows on Broadway, as well as the local and touring productions here in Chicago. I keep all of my playbills from each show as a "souvenir" from my theatre experience!
