1. What advice do you have for a student who doesn't know what their major should be?
I think it's important for a student to study something in college that interests them and that they feel they will succeed in. I encourage students who are unsure of what their major should be, to take some time and really think about all the possibilities that could be a good fit for them. Also, I want students to know that many start college undecided and then choose a major throughout the beginning of their college experience.
2. What is your favorite part about Saint Xavier's campus?
I love the entire campus, but I also like the residential neighborhood Saint Xavier is situated in. It is a friendly community to be a part of, and many of the community members embrace Saint Xavier throughout the school year, and show SXU great support at various events and games. It's great to see the Saint Xavier community spread past campus and into the surrounding area.
3. What do you do for fun?
Well, I was an English major in college, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that I love to read. When I have time, I love sitting down with a good book (or my Kindle). If anyone would like book recommendations, I'll be happy to share!
4. What is your favorite season in Chicago? Why?
I absolutely love the fall. It has always been my favorite season. Something about the crisp cooler air, and the leaves turning colors always makes me happy. I'm also a big football fan, so fall always means it's football time! Since the SXU football team won the NAIA National Championship in 2011, football here will definitely be something to enjoy this Fall.
5. What advice do you have about a student going through the college selection process?
I think it's important that a student visits campus in order to see if the college looks and feels like a good fit for the student. I also encourage the student to talk to his or her admission counselor (like myself), and let that counselor know all of their concerns and questions. I might be bias, but I think we have the best admission counselors here at SXU, and we're all ready and willing to help you through the college process. Your admission counselor can be the best resource for you.
