The Learning Center
Located in L-110 of the Warde Academic Center, the Learning Center, formerly in partnership with Disability Services, provides an enriched learning environment. By offering a variety of academic support services and opportunities, the Learning Center enhances students' learning and success at Saint Xavier University. Whether a student is excited by a new subject and wants to know more, needs assistance with an assignment or paper, or is having trouble mastering the course content of a subject, the Learning Center is available to provide assistance, free of charge to currently enrolled SXU students!
- provide all students with academic assistance, across the curriculum on a regularly scheduled and ad hoc basis.
- provide a comfortable and non-threatening learning environment for students to pursue both formal and informal academic assistance.
- train and coordinate peer tutors to provide academic assistance in a variety of subjects.
- assist, direct and train supplemental instructors where specified by an academic department.
The Learning Center staff also strives to assist students in maximizing their full academic potential at each stage throughout their college experience. The staff designs, establishs and delivers mechanisms, both formal and informal, that introduce and promote the principles of effective learning, all the while working closely with faculty and administrative staff to assist individual students in addressing issues of academic enhancement and performance.
