Technology Day

Technology Day 2015

Registration is now open! You are cordially invited to join Saint Xavier University for its 4th Annual Technology Day: Making…, scheduled for August 17, 2015.

Making and the Makerspace movement provide the opportunity for physical and project-based learning to come alive. Students are given control of their own learning as they take ownership of projects they have defined. Making and the spaces where it happens are inherently cross-disciplinary, students in many fields can come together to make. The resurgence of defining and producing product has been led by the notion that the U.S. is “behind” the rest of the world in STEAM education, that our students need to be able to think critically, problem-solve, and collaborate in order to succeed in a 21st century career. Len Avecilla the keynote speaker for Tech Day 2015 will address the idea that we are all “makers” and how we can harness technology and project-based learning to prepare our students for the 21st century.

We are pleased to introduce our keynote speaker.

Keynote Speaker

Len Avecilla, Systems Engineering & Design in Education

Address title: “Getting Used to It: We are all Makers”

Over the past three years, nearly 400 faculty and staff of Saint Xavier University have shared their experiences with technology and pedagogical innovation. Beginning last year we opened our doors to like-minded faculty, K-12 educators, staff and administrators from the Chicagoland area who were also interested in exploring K-20 education innovation.

The day will include five tracks designed to bring individuals from across institutions together to discuss innovation.
