Nursing Education Certificate Program

The Certificate in Nursing Education is designed to prepare experienced nurses with the knowledge and skills that are necessary to teach in a classroom and clinical settings. This online program consists of four courses, totaling 11 credit hours of graduate-level credit. Each course is taught in a 14-week block. The practicum courses provides opportunities for the student to gain advanced knowledge and skills in a clinical specialty and to work with a full-time faculty member in classroom. clinical, and online settings.

Eligibility criteria for the certificate program include:


Course content and activities reflect best practices in nursing education. The curriculum incorporates the Core Competencies of Nurse Educators© as defined by the National League for Nursing and meets standards of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for master's-level nurse educator programs. Threaded throughout the courses are three core concepts that are essential to effective teaching of nursing students: clinical decision-making, communication and cultural competence.
