Educators’ Symposium

The successful completion of the Educators' Symposium is required the long semester before student teaching begins for all undergraduate and graduate candidates enrolled in programs leading to their initial teacher certificate. The assessment of candidates in the Educators' Symposium is based on their developmental LiveText electronic portfolio and a two hour roundtable discussion with several other teacher candidates and two faculty member about what their portfolio represents and how it demonstrates that they have met the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards. The discussion by each candidate will give each an opportunity to demonstrate their professionalism, oral communication skills, professional identity, content knowledge, and commitment to life-long learning.
