Master of Accounting

Communication Skills:

Financial Accounting Knowledge:

Business Analytics Learning Outcomes

Master of Science in Business Analytics

Problem Solving/Critical Thinking - To develop critical-thinking skills, the process of conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing and/or evaluating information as the basis for solving problems and making decisions.

  • Students will choose and apply appropriate statistical modeling methodologies including linear regression and logistic regression to solve problems.
  • Students will apply decision trees, cluster analysis and factor analysis to solve problems.
  • Students will use market basket analysis, neural networks, genetic algorithms, extensions of regression models, text mining and web mining in problem solving.

Operations Analysis - The ability to develop business models for forecasting and business analysis. This requires the understanding of organizational flows of information and control and the impacts that these flows have on operations.

  • Students will choose an appropriate time series model and use it to solve a business problem.
  • Students will apply essential concepts of simulation and optimization to solve business problems.

Technical skills - Technical competence in decision and system technologies. As technologies develop, the successful user and manager of these technologies must be constantly aware of developments in these areas.

  • Students will use leading statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS/JMP and R to solve business problems.
  • Students will define and discuss essential database concepts and use database tools like Structured Query Language.

Communication skills - To prepare students to be well-rounded business professionals with a specialty in business analytics.

  • Students will present analytics results, both in writing and orally, to a variety of audiences.

Finance Learning Outcomes

Master of Science in Finance

Students will have specific knowledge of theories and methods in finance.

  • Students will obtain adequate knowledge and quantitative skills.
  • Students will apply the knowledge and skills in data or problem analysis.
  • Students will identify and measure the source of exchange-rate risk and use derivative securities to manage and hedge that risk.

Students will be able to solve problems effectively.

  • Students will identify problems in economic and business environment.
  • Students will critically analyze and solve the business problems.
  • Students will use a variety of statistical tools to measure and evaluate the risk of investment securities and instruments.

Students will demonstrate effective communication abilities.
