Saint Xavier University has been designated by Cisco Systems as a networking academy to prepare students for the Cisco certified network associate (CCNA) examination. The CCNA curriculum provides students with a sound foundation in the increasingly important areas of networking and internetworking. SXU has made the curriculum of the Cisco Academy program available for students in computer studies and computer science. The program is also available for qualified students from other majors who want to enhance their degree programs.
The curriculum of the Cisco Academy program is offered as four 3-credit hour courses. In addition to preparing students to take the CCNA exam for certification, the courses may be applied toward the computer science and computer studies majors, the computer science minor, a networking certificate, or as free elective courses.
