The Communication Department at Saint Xavier University produces students who possess strong skills in both mediated (electronic or print media) and non-mediated (organizational, interpersonal, small group) communication. Students majoring or minoring in communication are a valuable part of the SXU community as they bring an understanding of human behavior, cultural variance, and analytical research to their other classes, clubs and interactions. Saint Xavier is interested in retaining and rewarding the students of the communication discipline through financial aid.
Saint Xavier offers a wide range of scholarships available to students University-wide and to students who fall into certain parameters like a specific major or academic year. There are a variety of other scholarships are also offered outside of Saint Xavier, which we call outside scholarships, that you may be eligible to receive based on the establishment's requirements. For more information concerning these scholarships and their application details, please visit the scholarship directory.
Richard J. Potts '83 Scholarship
Established from the generosity of Ms. Doris R. Potts, the Richard J. Potts, '83, Scholarship in Communication will benefit students in the department in perpetuity. Ms. Potts honored her son's memory with this scholarship because of his love for Saint Xavier and the excellent education he was provided while he attended the University. If it was not for the assistance of scholarships, Richard would have been unable to attend Saint Xavier. This generous gift will ensure students receive the same opportunity in the future.
