Academic Success Workshops

Student Affairs staff have designed these informative academic skills workshops to support the educational needs of Saint Xavier students. Workshops are 50 minutes and no registration is required (exceptions are noted). Students may bring a meal or snack.

Students, faculty or staff may request a presentation of any of these workshops during the academic year. The presentations may be tailored for an entire class or for a small group (four or more individuals). Additional topics are also available.

Insider's Insight to SXU September 4 3 p.m.

Get the inside scoop on Saint Xavier University! Join other SXU students in discussing how to survive at SXU. Students will share insight on topics that include:

  • Obtaining books
  • Where to go for needed services
  • Working with faculty and staff
  • How to make the best of your time at Saint Xavier University.

Students will be on-hand to answer questions!

Writer's Block September 19 2 p.m. Have you ever faced the terror of the blinking cursor? You have a paper to write, you know what you want to say, but nothing comes out? Come to this workshop and learn some hands-on strategies to release you from writer's block. English major Brittany Ciboski and Associate Professor of English Gina Rossetti, Ph.D., will facilitate and invite you to bring a paper assignment with you to the workshop. 4th Floor Boardroom


Time Flies When You're on Facebook: Time Management Workshop October 10 2 p.m. If time slips through your fi ngers as easily as grains of sand at the beach (which is where you would really rather be), then this is the workshop for you! Skills Frightened? You Don't Have to Be - Test-Taking Tips October 22 2 p.m. Yikes, I have a test coming up! What do I do? How do I prepare for it? Attend this workshop to receive tips on how to prepare for diff erent types of tests (multiple choice, essay, true/false and short answer), and tackle your testing anxiety! 4th Floor Boardroom


Stress Management - Anxiety Bites! November 20 3 p.m. Life is stressful. Life as a college student is even more so. Don't let stress catch you off -guard. Come to our workshop and we'll tackle stress head-on, learning techniques that will let you beat stress at its own game. Butler Reception Room
