Welcome Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Graham School of Management at Saint Xavier University!
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Graham School of Management at Saint Xavier University, I am delighted to welcome you to our diverse community of scholars working in the Mercy tradition.
Academic excellence and social responsibility form the cornerstones of our mission at the Graham School of Management. Saint Xavier University is the first Mercy institution of higher learning in the United States, and is Chicago's oldest Catholic University. Inspired by its Catholic identity and Mercy heritage, SXU's mission is to educate men and women to search for truth, to think critically, to communicate effectively and to serve wisely and compassionately in support of human dignity and the common good.
Our graduate and undergraduate business programs are accredited by the hallmark of excellence in management education, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. This designation places the School among the top 5 percent of business programs in the world.
The Graham School of Management has an outstanding group of faculty and staff who sincerely care about students’ success, and are passionate about mentoring students to develop their leadership skills and professional career. We take great pride on our outstanding alumni who provide internships and mentoring to our students, and offer an extensive network of professional contacts for our students interested in pursuing rewarding career opportunities.
We emphasize three fundamental attributes in our management education that we believe are essential for the success of business leaders and managers in the future global marketplace:Character, Competency, and Commitment (CCC). It is our belief that moral values and business ethics define Character and is the most important attribute of effective leadership. Competency, both in academics and experience, is essential for business management and leadership success. In particular, experiential learning such as internships, field projects, and service learning are integral components of business education in preparing successful and responsible business leaders. Commitment, specifically, persistence to education, is the third important attribute of successful business leaders, and an important aspect of our management education program.
We consider the diversity of our student population, and their commitment to their studies a rich resource for partnership with the business community and economic development of the greater Chicago metropolitan area. We have an outstanding alumni network for executive business mentorship and tremendous opportunity of partnerships between the Graham School of Management and the Chicago community that have translated into internships, field projects, service learning and other experiential learning opportunities for our students.
As a potential student, an industry partner, or other loyal supporter, you are welcome to review the information presented on our website and to visit our beautiful campuses, and to learn more about our innovative programs. I am confident that you will find the Graham School of Management a vibrant and exciting learning community in the heart of Chicagoland.
