"See What Saint Xavier's Got Brewing," the theme for SXU's Homecoming celebration featured the unveiling of Cougar Ale, an amber ale brewed specially for the occasion by Horse Thief Hollow Restaurant and Brewery, and Cougar Swirl, a specialty coffee created by the Starbucks on campus. The theme also related to the many new developments at SXU including a newly redesigned space for the Center for Instructional Design and Academic Technology with smart classrooms, a recording studio and state-of-the-art media center, the new Cougar athletics logo and updated SXU Athletics website

The week consisted of many events which embodied Saint Xavier's spirit including:

Homecoming Liturgy and Spirit of Saint Xavier Awards
Honoring alumni Nick Urso '99 and Kelly Urso '00 (Spirit of Saint Xavier Award), Sister Ellen Marie Ryan, RSM '60 (Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon '19 Award) and Mark Piper '10 (Rita A. Ford '98, Faith in the Future Award).

Service Through Action Team's (S.T.A.T.) Brown Bag Project
Alumni and students gathered on October 2 and made 600 lunches for our neighbors in need.

The Academic Distinguished Alumni and The O'Brien Student Leadership Awards
Honoring alumni and students whose words and actions emulate the operating ethos of Saint Xavier University. The 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are: Jim Hedderman '00 (Graham School of Management); Kimbriell Kelly '97 (College of Arts and Sciences); Roslyn Iasillo Ed.D. '90 (School of Education); Judith Scully, Ph.D., '84 (School of Nursing).

The week ended with a bang on Saturday, October 5 as nearly 1,000 students, alumni and friends of SXU participated in the 13th Annual Cougar 5K Run/Walk. Afterward, more than 200 guests gathered in the SX-Brew House Tailgate Tent enjoying the game in the company of family and old friends. New this year, Cougar Cubs – an entertainment area for kids that kept the little ones entertained as they decorated pumpkins, designed SXU lunch bags, received air tattoos and snacked on cotton candy.
